If Ald. Doug Iverson were to win the position of mayor, who would take over his seat representing District 4?

One potential candidate has stepped forward.

Jolene Rueden Schatzinger, 309 Houston St., filed her “Declaration of Candidacy” Monday afternoon for District 4.

She’s challenging Iverson, who has filed his intent to run for both District 4 and mayor.

Rueden Schatzinger noted that her interest in joining the council has “grown over time.”

“I feel that my gifts can be used to unite our community at a time when society feels more and more disconnected,” she said. “I bring a new, fresh voice to the table. I believe that government can and should work for the good of the people.”

Currently a gift officer for Ripon College, she’s also previously worked for the Ripon Area School District as a school counselor and for the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. The 15-year resident of Ripon also is active with Ripon Noon Kiwanis, the Ripon Opioid Initiative and the League of Women Voters.
