Bond has been set at $10,000 for a former Green Lake man accused of strangling a woman and threatening her and a neighbor with a shotgun.

Matthew W. Arbogast, 28, Berlin, faces six charges, including three felonies and three labeled as domestic abuse, related to events that occurred last September at his former residence, 605 South St. in Green Lake.

Arbogast reportedly shot himself after police and the Green Lake Combined Tactical Unit, or SWAT, were called to the scene, and he was transported by helicopter for medical care.

Charges include strangulation, intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, possessing a firearm after a felon conviction and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.

At his initial appearance Monday in Green Lake County Circuit Court, bond was set with conditions including no contact with the woman Arbogast lived with in the upper portion of the house and whom he allegedly attacked and threatened, as well as a neighbor who lived in the downstairs apartment.

Arbogast’s next hearing is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m., according to court records.
