Let’s hope the dance floor is a bit less precarious.

To pump themselves up for a week of festivities ahead of their annual Winterfest Dance this Saturday night, Green Lake high-schoolers gathered in their gym last week Friday for fun and games.

Mostly, they weaved their way through an obstacle course that began with individuals from a team spinning around before crawling under mats held up by folding chairs and ended with them dribbling a basketball and shooting it into a basket.

Naturally, the basketball teams participated, both girls’ and boys’.

But the students weren’t going to let the opportunity slip by to watch faculty have to go through the same ordeals.

Coerced by loud, vocal insistence from the stands, a few game teachers formed into their own teams and ran the course.

If that wasn’t enough to get their blood flowing, the students also had a chance to scream their lungs out in another competition, although participation wasn’t always unanimous.

With a full week to psych themselves up even more, the kids have had dress-up days this week.

Some dressed up as representations of memes Monday (with a student imploring them last week Friday to adhere to the school dress code), and some kept the holiday spirit alive by wearing ugly sweaters Tuesday.

They’ll probably be wearing more dressy attire and swing around the gym floor with fewer obstacles when the dance commences Saturday.
