Two concerts weren’t enough, apparently.

Before crooning to audiences last week Friday and Saturday nights at Thrasher Opera House, a capella doo-wop quartet the Alley Cats prowled around the area to make merry music for some of the youngest and oldest residents in Green Lake and Ripon.

That included a Friday morning stop by the Green Lake School gym, where a crowd of about 300 students and staff sang along and snapped their fingers to early 1960s standards such as “Sherry” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” as well as renditions of holiday classics.

Perhaps aware they were in a school during class hours, the Alley Cats team explained and demonstrated elements of doo-wop and a capella music.
