Green Lake residents will have decisions to make when they visit the voting polls in April as they choose between several candidates on the ballot for each available position.

One contested race in Green Lake will be for the position of mayor.

Incumbent Jon McConnell, who has served as mayor since 2012, has taken out papers for another term, but still needs to submit them to officially announce his candidacy.

His challenger, Raymond Radis, 556 Hill St., has submitted all necessary paperwork, declaring his intent to run.

Radis explained to the Commonwealth he decided to run for mayor “because I love Green Lake and I want to see it to continue to thrive and grow the right way. There are too many empty storefronts in town. I take a look at Ripon and Princeton and how vibrant they’re becoming and everything, and I just want to see this town the same way.”

He added he wants the town to continue to offer its summer events, such as its fall festival.
