Green Lake residents may see a new face on the April 2020 ballot for mayor.

According to City Clerk/Treasurer Barb Dugenske, Raymond Radis, 566 Wilson St., recently took out papers to run for mayor.

Mayor Jon McConnell’s term is up in 2020, and he too took out papers, intending to run for re-election.

However, Dugenske noted none of the papers have been turned in yet, meaning no declaration of candidacy has been filed.

District 1 Ald. Jon Smick and District 3 Ald. Dusty Walker are also up for re-election in 2020; however, Walker announced through an official correspondence at the City Council’s Committee of the Whole meeting Monday night that she is not running for re-election as a result of personal reasons.

She noted in her letter that she has enjoyed her time as alderperson and thanked the council staff for their support.

Smick, as of press time, has not taken any papers out yet.

Council members have until Friday, Dec. 27 at 5 p.m. to file non-candidacy, while those interested in the positions have until Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. to file their candidacy.
