For the first time since its inception, Green Lake Renewal has a new face to its organization.

But the former face — the one so many know and have associated with the revitalization project — won’t be far away.

Kate Salas, who has been with the organization since September 2016, is taking over the reins of Green Lake Renewal as its new executive director.

The previous head, Fran Hill, recently was elected president of the board, with Nick Vandervelde picked as the vice president next in line for succession.

So Hill will remain, as she always has, an integral part of the organization that owns and operates downtown Green Lake’s Town Square and manages the community center’s many programs and spaces.

Hill has been a linchpin in the wheel of local redevelopment and revitalization that has been at the heart of Green Lake Renewal and Town Square, even before either existed.
