Weeks after a broken elevator caused some residents living at Kenwood Senior Living to be trapped on the second floor of the 55-years-and-older apartment complex, all have been set free.

A repair scheduled for last week Friday occurred early, enabling the senior citizens to move freely as soon as last week Thursday afternoon.

“I spoke to a few [of my neighbors] and they are thrilled,” Kenwood resident Rita McGee said. “I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful everyone is.”

The repair was done early at the new vendor’s suggestion, according to ACC Management Group of Oshkosh, which manages Kenwood.

“MEI-Badger Elevator did a wonderful job and they came a day earlier than scheduled to ensure that they could have the elevator repaired before the weekend,” said Chris Hand, president of ACC. “If they needed an additional part, they wanted to be able to come back on Friday.

“We are very appreciative that they were able to step in and resolve this situation in a timely and cost-effective way.”
