For the second year in a row, one of Green Lake’s two District 1 alderpersons isn’t seeking re-election.

But as demonstrated last year, that doesn’t guarantee the incumbent won’t be elected anyway.

A little over an hour past the candidacy filing deadline, District 1 Ald. Nancy Wells said Tuesday that she isn’t running this spring to retain her seat on the Green Lake City Council.

Ald. Diana Galster-Kinas, District 2, did file her paperwork and, as of press time, is the only city official whose name will appear on the ballot for the April 3 election.

Since Wells did not file non-candidacy paperwork either, the deadline for District 1 hopefuls to get their names on the ballot has been extended to Friday at 5 p.m.

Should candidates miss this week’s deadline, any interested in running for City Council would have to file as a write-in candidate.
