A Ripon High School student this week threatened to shoot eight students.

In a note to high school staff and parents emailed Friday evening around 4 p.m., Principal Randy Hatlen said the student making the threat was brought to the office, found to not have the means to carry it out and was removed from the school following an investigation by school administrators, who were aided by Ripon police.

The school had learned of the threat Friday morning. The eight students named and their parents were told about the threat by the administration.

Hatlen's note did not disclose how the threat was made, why certain students were targeted or how the student making the threat will be handled. However, he did assure parents and staff that “the school has taken the appropriate action and at no time was any student in danger."
