A Ripon man accused of publicly masturbating while naked last summer in Selfridge Park has been charged.

James Richard Buelow Fay, 37, 523 W. Thorne St., was charged last week Tuesday in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court with lewd and lascivious behavior.

A Ripon department of public works employee told police July 3, 2017, that a naked man had been spotted the morning of June 22 at the shelter house at Selfridge Park.

Pictures from trail cameras installed at the park were provided to police.

“At one point in time, the male took what appeared to be an iPad and set it up on the bench on the south side of the shelter house and apparently took a picture or video of himself masturbating,” the criminal complaint states.

With (cropped) images of the man’s face, police posted pictures July 3 at 11:27 a.m. on Facebook, asking for help in identifying and locating him.

A short time later, the department edited the post: “Updated: subject identified! Thanks for the tips in less than two hours from being posted, subject turned himself into Ripon PD. Charges are pending!”
