Irene Lucille (Knudtson) Valstad, age 92, died peacefully on February 7, 2018 at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mt. Horeb. She was born on December 3, 1925 at home on the family farm near Daleyville to parents Albert and Mabel (Rundhaug) Knudtson. She was baptized and confirmed at Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, WI, where she remained a member all her life. She was married to Victor Valstad on March 7, 1947 at Perry Lutheran Church. After renting for a few years, they bought a farm north of Barneveld and enjoyed farming there from 1951 to 1974, when they moved to Mount Horeb where she volunteered at Ingleside. She lived in her home until January 2017 when she moved to Ingle Living Communities

Irene is survived by her beloved children: Diane Ludlum, Platteville, Dennis Valstad, Ripon and Delores (Paul) Swedlund, Barneveld.

Grandchildren: Troy (Brenda) Ludlum, Tammy (Brian) Benoy, Tessy (Sam) Noel, Tina (James) Freeman, Matthew (Liz Fleming) Swedlund, and Kristin (Andy Twiton) Swedlund;

Great-grandchildren: Logan, Lucas, and Landon Ludlum; Sarah, Stacey, and Stephen Benoy; Travis, Spencer, and Taylor Noel; Ashley, Morgan, and Thomas Freeman; Charlie and Caleb Swedlund;

Sister-in-law: Bea Knudtson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Victor (October 8, 1991); son-in-law: Tom Ludlum; brothers and sisters: Everett (Joscine) Knudston, Leona (Luther) Stamn, Alvena (Edgar) Moen, Harold (Gladys) Knudtson Wallace (Lois) Knudston and Albert Knudston, Jr.

Irene will always be remembered as a kind, loving, compassionate, helpful, unselfish, fun person. Her patience was endless. We love you, and will miss you immensely.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, WI with Rev. Kelli Fisher officiating. Burial will be at the Perry Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N 8th Street, Mt. Horeb, WI. Memorials can be made to either the Mount Horeb Senior Center or Perry Lutheran Church.
