Some potentially big names could be heading to Ripon this summer.

A country singer trying to re-establish himself as well as a “famous person” yet to be named are expected to grace Ripon’s festivals.

These were among the highlights offered last week Wednesday night as the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce and Ripon Main Street held their annual dinner at Vines & Rushes Winery.

The event, aimed at both honoring the past year and looking ahead at seasons to come, gave a sneak peek at good news each organizations will be sharing.

That includes a bigger act that is expected to be signed for the end of the Village Green Concert Series.

“We’re taking a chance. We’re signing our first national band,” Ripon Main Street Manager Craig Tebon said, qualifying the news by adding, “I’m a little nervous because the contract hasn’t been returned yet. We struck a lot of things out of the contract rider but Keith Anderson is a country music performer who has been around ... since 2005; he’s had some pretty big hits. He’s doing the small circuit as he relaunches his career.”

Anderson describes himself, according to his website, as a singer-songwriter whose early success led “Billboard and Radio & Records to name him country music’s No. 1 New Male Artist of 2005 and the top new solo country artist of the year.”
