Last week Wednesday evening, a small crowd began to gather in the commons at Ripon High School.

   “I’m here because I’m a Type II diabetic,” Pam Stevenson said.

   “Well, my wife died 10 days ago, and I want to get out and do something because it’s very hard to sit in that house. It’s very quiet,” Bruce Miller explained.

   Each person came with their own reason, but for the same cause: to “Walk with a Doc.”

   It’s the new program that does exactly what the name suggests: individuals may walk and talk with a doctor with no need to be a patient of that physician.

   The concept was brought to Ripon by SSM Health-Agnesian, replicating a similar and highly successful offering in Fond du Lac.
