“I was one of those kids who, you can look at my third-grade papers and it said ‘I want to be a veterinarian,’” Dr. Jesse Repka-Hunter joked.

   Most such third-graders, though, don’t follow through with that dream.

   But, maybe because she grew up surrounded by animals, one shouldn’t be surprised that Repka-Hunter was the exception.

   This fall, she became Ripon’s newest veterinarian, taking a post at Associated Veterinary Clinic, 165 S. Douglas St.

   “We have surgical and medical services offered here,” Repka-Hunter said. “... Most soft-tissue surgeries are ones we’d pursue. Some orthopedic [surgeries Dr. Michael Herrick] will do. Dental procedures are certainly something I will do.”

   Helping animals comes as second-nature to the new, local vet.
