A Ripon High School (RHS) student has been expelled for making a threat to shoot eight other students on the last day of school before winter break.

The School Board agreed to expel the student Tuesday night during a special, closed-session meeting, Superintendent Mary Whitrock confirmed this morning (Wednesday).

A classmate reported the threat to school staff the morning of Friday, Dec. 22. The student alleged to have made the threat was removed from school grounds the same day after an investigation by the school district and police.

Since then, the student has not been allowed back to school, and now won’t return to Ripon High School at all.

Although expelled students sometimes can gain readmittance by meeting certain conditions, Whitrock indicated that the board determined the student will not be allowed back to the Ripon Area School District.
