The Ripon High School boys’ basketball team may have lost a game to the Lakeside Lutheran Warriors last week Saturday.

   But it gained confidence.

The Tigers pushed the Warriors, who were ranked No. 9 in the state in Division 3, to the limit before falling 61-58 at the SwingFam Showcase in Waunakee, Wis.

They had a couple cracks at tying the game in the final seconds.

“We got two looks at it down the stretch and unfortunately they didn’t go down,” Ripon head coach Steve Brooks said. “But overall, I was very pleased with our performance. That’s the [No.] 9 ranked team in Division 3 … They’ve got three guys who are 6 [feet], 6 inches or taller and, honestly, we forced them out of their game; we beat them at their game and just came up one basket short.”

The Tigers (7-3 overall) hung with the Warriors (9-2 overall) throughout the game as there were 14 lead changes and three ties.
