The Ripon Tiger wrestling team went into last week Saturday’s East Central Conference meet with the hopes of making up ground on Campbellsport and Kewaskum.

While that didn’t happen, it had plenty of all-conference finishes.

The Tigers placed eight of their 13 wrestlers in the top three — which included three conference champions — en route to finishing in third place with 196.5 points.

Campbellsport won the conference meet with 229 points and was followed by Kewaskum at 225.

Rounding out the field at the competition were Plymouth (168.5), Berlin (160), host Winneconne (94) and Waupun (32).

“[I’m] proud of the guys,” Ripon head coach Lee Cotton said. “We as a coaching staff knew that we could do this and, of course, we go into it a little more optimistic thinking we’ve possibly got a chance to catch Kewaskum and Campbellsport. That’s where our sights were set all day and we tried to keep the guys motivated.

“Any time you can get ... eight guys ultimately finishing with conference [recognition] is validation that ... the guys did what we asked them to and what we asked them to do is the right stuff.”

Leading the way for the Tigers at last weekend’s conference meet were Brady Kissinger (160-pound weight class), Tucker Bender (220) and Keegan Nordvold (285).

Each went 3-0 to win their respective weight classes and bring home first-team conference honors.
