     I’M ALWAYS AMAZED HOW much I forget over the course of a year about what’s happened in the community.

     We cover so many stories over the past 52 weeks that sometimes they seem to blend together!

     But as I started working on our annual year-in-review package — which will run in next week’s issue — I felt compelled to write about some of the highlights (and lowlights) of what happened in Ripon this past year.

     On the first day of Christmas, my community sent to me, one new splash pad! ...

     On the second day of Christmas, my community sent to me, two failed hotel projects ...

     On the third day of Christmas, my community sent to me, three downtown Boca buildings, all under repair ...
Isn’t it nice to see local community members make hay where Boca Grande did not? ...

     On the fourth day of Christmas, my community sent to me, four prominent retirements in two weeks.
Let’s see: Police Chief Dave Lukoski retired today (Wednesday), Sgt. John Teachout retires next week. So does City Engineer Travis Drake. And then, just after the holidays? Longtime Ripon Dr. Paul Nelsen will hang up his stethoscope as well. Who’s left to take care of this town? ...
