(Re: “Optimism abounds downtown,” March 1, 2018) “Friends, citizens of Ripon. I will now comment on Ripon as she appeared to me in 1873. I hope she has not got her growth. She has all of her beauty location. Let the future visitor take a stand on her Western Hillside and look over her for more beautiful picture cannot be found. ... And now keep the spirit, and all hands help to make business with which to keep all your business places busy. Ripon has not slumbered yet. .... KEEP HER AWAKE.”

Thank you to the intelligent people that understand our heritage and how important it is to keep it, fight for it, and save it.

Once it is destroyed there is no way to bring it back.

I think of the many buildings in our town that have been met with the wrecking ball.

Imagine for a moment if the Haas Brewery could have been reopened as Knuth’s (demo 2006 approximately), imagine the only town around that has two church steeples in a row at the highest point ( demo 1985),  imagine a museum that could’ve been  where the Booth war started (demo 1984) ...

Citizens of Ripon, I  encourage you to, “keep her awake”! ...
