I would like to give kudos to the Green Lake Town Square for bolstering the local arts scene, and especially for offering figure drawing open sessions. I have been drawing there for the past year, and it is a lot of fun.

We draw from a model, who is usually nude, for two hours.  People bring their own drawing supplies.

This is a real service because most people do not have access to a friend or family member who is willing to sit motionless for hours at a time, week after week, while being unflinchingly stared at. But that is precisely what we need to perfect the ability to draw the human body.

I am also grateful for the dedication of our models, who I suspect are doing this as a personal mission and labor of love. After all, it is hard work to be still, and it can be a bit uncomfortable. ...
