Marina plans move forward
Aaron Becker
Reporter

Despite objections from some neighbors, a new building to accompany a Green Lake marina/watercraft rental business took a step forward Monday during a two-hour meeting.

City of Green Lake Plan Commission members unanimously  granted a conditional use permit for Silver Creek Ventures LLC to construct a one-story building at 463 Lake St.

The commission, however, delayed approving the site plan due to concerns about incomplete information. Therefore, the conditional use permit approval is contingent upon the site plan approval, which could happen next month.

Addressing the Plan Commission, applicant Byron Lewis of Ripon explained how his original plans have been scaled back. No longer will the building have two floors with top-level residential units. Now, the building will be one story and no residential units, allowing more parking.

“What we plan we feel is very good for Green Lake,” he said, calling the proposal “an asset to the community.”

After granting the permit, the Plan Commission heard about but took no action on a possible idea to bring a Subway restaurant to Green Lake’s former Mill Street Junction building, 493 Hill St. Read the full story in the April 22 issue of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.
