Creatures great and small ...

Mica Sherman, left, and Lainey Heiden get an up-close look at a tortoise in a cage.

Area kids enjoyed a visit from several critters this week at the Ripon Public Library, in the kickoff to the 2015 summer reading program.

Representatives from Marsh Haven Nature Center in Waupun showed several unique animals, including a western hognose snake, snapping turtle, painted turtle, red-footed tortoise, ring-necked dove, button quail and a dumbo rat. See more photos in the June 18 issue of the Ripon Commonwealth Press.
