No pressure? No problem! Church aims to create new kind of downtown 'hang-out'

Riponite Megan Wuske has been tabbed to be a director of a still-unnamed concept Ripon Community Church has for downtown Ripon.

Imagine a place where you could go and just hang out.

No pressure to buy. No rush to leave. Non-alcoholic to make it more family-friendly.

It simply would be a place where youth rec teams could have parties, groups could have meetings or friends could hang out and read (or study).

That’s the vision Ripon Community Church hopes to fulfill.

The church aims to create what it is informally calling a “gathering place,” or, as the Rev. Mike Holba would sees it, “a modern-day community center,’ or, as a Ripon Main Street member suggested, ‘a bar without alcohol.’”

“[We’d like it to be] a welcoming gathering place that offers good food and drinks, and that’s a comfortable place to hang out,” said Megan Wuske, a Ripon native and Ripon College senior who has been tabbed to be the director of the still-unnamed concept.
