The two candidates in the Tuesday, Aug. 9 recall election for the District 14 state Senate seat will take questions from the public at a forum Thursday in Ripon.

Sen. Luther Olsen, R-Ripon, and Rep. Fred Clark, D-Baraboo, have agreed to participate in a 7 p.m. forum hosted by the League of Women Voters (LWV) of the Ripon Area.

It will take place in the Council Chambers at Ripon City Hall, 100 Jackson St. The forum will provide each candidate a few minutes for self-introduction. Then each will be asked identical questions by an LWV moderator.

Audience members can submit questions in writing through the moderator. The forum will conclude with a brief statement from each candidate.

The Ripon Channel will broadcast the event live on Charter cable channel 97 and through Charter’s digital feed on channel 986. For information about broadcast copies, call the Ripon Channel at 748-4917.

The LWV is a nonpartisan organization of men and women that encourages informed and active participation in all levels of government. LWV seeks to influence public policy through education and advocacy.

LWV does not support or oppose candidates for public office nor take a stand for or against any political party. Membership information is available by visiting or by calling LWV-Ripon Area President Pam Nelson-Icenogle at 920-896-0118.
