Ripon Area United Way goal? $80,000 - again

Horicon Bank Vice President John Triller announces the bank will donate $2,500 toward Ripon Area United Way’s $80,000 goal, while noting that bank president Fred Schwertfeger is in the audience.

Jeff Puhlmann-Becker made John Triller an offer he couldn’t refuse.

When the president of the Ripon Area United Way board hit up the Horicon Bank vice president for his employer to serve as pacesetter for the fund’s 2015-16 campaign, Triller knew he had to say yes.

“Horicon Bank’s mission statement is, ‘We enjoy working together to make lives better and more secure,’” Triller said at a campaign kickoff at the Ripon bank last week Tuesday evening. “I think that pretty much sums up the goal of the Ripon Area United Way.”

But Triller told the 200 attendees in the bank’s lobby that aside from asking employees to contribute, the bank corporation would lead the charge with a $2,500 donation.

That gift represents a little more than 3 percent of the 2015 goal of $80,000.

“We raise money in this community to better this community and meet its needs,” Puhlmann-Becker said.

The goal is the same as last year’s, which was 23 percent higher than the 2013 goal of $65,000.
