Ripon Medical Center (RMC) was named the No. 1 hospital in the nation in customer satisfaction scoring for the Emergency Department.

The designation was made by Press Ganey.

In 2009 RMC had an overall mean score of 93.2 for the Emergency Department. That score put RMC in the 99th percentile for the All-Press-Ganey Database, which includes 1,618 facilities across the country.

Scott Springer, Press Ganey improvement manager, said that means RMC ranks in the top 1 percent in the nation for customer satisfaction in the Emergency Department.

“Does that mean that the RMC Emergency Department was in the 99th percentile every month or every day?” Springer said. “No. But overall for the entire year, RMC was the one who set the mark. RMC was the one to beat.”
