Tuba Dan, Copper Box, RHS Polka Dots will headline concert

Tuba Dan Jerabek is the leader of the Tuba Dan Family Band and director of Ripon High School's polka band, the Polka Dots.

When Ripon High School band and choral students board the busses next March for their trip to New York City, they might say a little prayer for Ripon’s Jerabek family.

The clan of polka musicians is donating its time and talent to raise funds for the five-day trip.

Their three bands — the Tuba Dan Family Band, Copper Box and Ripon High School’s own Polka Dots — will host a German Night concert Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Ripon High School Auditorium.

Tickets are $5. Proceeds go to the Ripon High School music fund established to off-set student costs for the trip.

The 90-minute performance will open with the music of “Tuba Dan” Jerabek’s own Tuba Dan Family Band.

This band’s performances at the Village Green’s summer concert series often draws among the season’s biggest crowds, who seem to enjoy Tuba Dan’s antics as much as his musicianship.
