Conference Center president announces retirement

Ken Giacoletto

Green Lake Conference Center President Ken Giacoletto has announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31.

In a letter to the Board of Directors, Giacoletto stated: “It has been my great honor to serve as president of Green Lake Conference Center and I leave with a multitude of great memories. During those years I have had the joy of being where God is working and joining Him. May God continue to lead the board as it seeks God’s will in the presidential search.”

The board expressed its gratitude to Giacoletto for his 18 years, during which the facilities were transformed and conference programs entered broad new areas of ministry and service.

Kern and Bauer Lodges now provide more than 120 modern rooms; Bauer Dining Room supports casual and banquet seating for 720 in a beautiful lakeside setting, and individuals and large groups are given an inviting reception in the Kraft Centre lobby and Ollie’s Place Internet Cafe.

Life-changing conferences equip youth ministry through the Quest program at Carroll Youth Center. The International Christian Alliance on Prostitution is an example of the ability of Green Lake to serve as a crucible for cutting edge theological partnerships.

The Assessment Center for Church Planters now serves eight different denominations in assessing the readiness of new church planters.

With the assistance of a $2 million dollar Lilly Endowment grant, the Center for Excellence in Congregational Leadership was launched. This multi-year, in-depth, experiential program has helped renew the ministries and lives of more than 300 pastors. Giacoletto’s ministry has truly been a period of redefinition in response to God’s call.

“These have been 18 amazing years, and working with a visionary like Giacoletto has been an exciting experience,” board Chairman Tom Jones said. “His view of our ability to serve and partner with a broad range of Christian organizations — while retaining our American Baptist roots — now defines our vision and our future plans. We wish him well in this next stage of his life.”

The process to find a successor has begun with the selection of a search committee. Confidential applications or nominations may be sent to the committee at
