To the Editor:
We thought there might be many in the community that would want to know about the passing of Tontine, a very special horse that was with us for over 20 years, and who has represented everything good about Cedar Ridge since our founding in 1993.
Tontine came into our lives over 20 years ago. He actually had been surrendered to a Milwaukee area humane society because of lameness — he was a “throw away” in many respects.
... At Cedar Ridge, Tontine was an absolute favorite for so many years. He taught hundreds of kids and adults how to ride; even people with disabilities — including blindness.
His youngest rider was eighteen months old and we’re not sure about the oldest one. He did dozens of parades, too many trail rides to count, and was the favorite mount for summer campers, as well. ...
Please come to the Lodge at Cedar Ridge on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. to honor this wonderful old soul.
Feel free to share your pictures of and stories about Tontine, as we plan to make a scrapbook. All are invited, and you are welcome to bring a treat to share if you would like. ... Happy trails, our dear friend.
