To the Editor:

(Re.“Father Wally’s legacy lives on,” July 28, 2022) When I received word that Fr. Wally Kasuboski had gone to meet our Lord, I wept.

I think there isn’t a Catholic in Ripon that hadn’t at least one interaction at some point in their life with Fr. Wally.

To quote the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy when he eulogized his late brother Robert, at his funeral, three days after his untimely assassination in 1968: “My brother need not be idealized, or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life.”

This is indeed Fr. Wally.

Fr. Wally need not be idealized in death beyond what he was in life because everything that has been said about him in death is exactly the way he lived.

I have never known a kinder, more loving and gentle man. He truly embodied the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ on this Earth.

While his work in Panama will go on in the team of people he led there, I propose that we here at home continue to honor his legacy by the way we lead our lives.

The clean water system could not have been built if the people in the village disagreed with one another. They had to overcome their differences.

Let us continue to remember and honor Fr. Wally by the way we live.

Let’s show our love and kindness to one another, overcome differences, help one another, make peace, not hate, and not see only a single way.

Our Fr. Wally will thank us.
