TO THE EDITOR:
... This is the way government always works. The politicians bait the voters with why we “must” do a program and how it will help. Then once they get the OK to spend, they switch to spending on other things.
The larger media outlets either don’t report it, or they play it down and forget about it, when it is time to remember (election time).
I also wish everyone would see this, and realize ... government is not the answer to the problem ... they are the problem.
I think we will now see a major advance in government (with the health-care “reform” package). What is being proposed is already being done, either in individual states or in foriegn countries, in whole or in part.
Every program has the same problem it has raised the taxes and is still underfunded. The healthcare providers lose income, the health-care systems lose providers, and/or the patients lose expediency. If you think about it, that is all that can happen. The “bait” this time, is “we pay so much, with the government controlling it, the cost will be less.”
The only way for the cost to be less is ... to not pay the cost!
The only thing that will stop it is if the general population remembers who gets us into these messes and votes them out of office, and this time that would be a major shake-up. ...
