TO THE EDITOR:

We have a junior and senior at Green Lake High School.

I want to tell you I was against the International Baccalaureate (IB) program initially. Yes, it has taken a semester for me to see it work in action.

Our son (a junior) is very determined to get his IB diploma. Yes, they are the very first class to try and achieve this, so it was new for everyone. He struggled immensely his first semester.

But, something has changed and he is now so focused and now understands how to reason, rationalize and comprehend.

He has taken a full circle and we see how it has improved his academic, social and everyday life.

We honestly feel the IB program has made him a better student and person. The homework can be grueling, and sometimes he wishes the class periods could be longer. ...
