Letter: Late Rev. Miller was a wonderful man and pastor

OUR SAVIOUR’S UCC posted this tribute to its former interim pastor during its turkey dinner last weekend. submitted photo

In light of the tragic and unexpected passing of my friend, Rev. Gary Miller, I must denote, while I appreciated the sentiment in the “Hearts and Darts” section, I really don’t think it did justice to the legacy of this incredible man.

Many of you may know I am a “dyed in the wool” Catholic, if you may, but may indeed not know that I was baptized at Our Saviour’s UCC in Ripon and spent the first 12 to 13 of my formative faith years there until being received into the Catholic Church in full at confirmation.

After which I didn’t choose to attend Our Saviour’s UCC at all, with the exception of Christmas and Easter, with my parents, until we were introduced to our interim Pastor, the Rev. Gary Miller.

There was something about Gary.

As a Catholic, he made me want to attend both Mass and church at Our Saviour’s on a regular basis during his time at our church, just to hear him preach.
