To the editor:
Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) is a taxpayer-funded lobbying group.
It allows abuse and protects public officials to hide their lobbying activities.
Taxpayer dollars should not be used to advance the interests of politicians or school officials. They can use their own money.
Local governments already have effective lobbyists in their senators and representatives.
Government-sector lobbying forces citizens to pay funds to maintain the group’s interests, not the interests of the public.
The views of the group — the WASB — may not represent the views of the majority of the taxpayers. ...
This is just more of the same scheme we saw in the recent past by union lobbyists, taking money from taxpayers, funneling it to their lobbyists to influence our legislature, all under the guise of doing good for the students. ...
