To the Editor:

(Re: “No one certain how to solve loss of identity,” May 21, 2015) We have many other thriving businesses in Ripon and perhaps a conversation can be started on some community events on their behalf if Cookie Days is discontinued.

Here are a few lighthearted ideas:

* The “Home of the Republican Party Annual Pickle O’Pete Parade” ...

* Annual “Boca Grande Free Internet Weekend”

* Alliance Laundry “Decorate a Wash Tub Days”

* “J.M. Smuckers Annual Jelly Jam Band Days” ...

Humor aside, it is a serious situation for the employees who are devastated by the plant closure. Ripon has a strong community and manufacturing structure and it is hoped that available positions are found for those who require them. ...
