To the Editor:

(Re: “Green Lake School’s mill rate to remain frozen for 2021-22 school year, total tax levy to increase slightly,” Oct. 28) Your paper includes articles about the Green Lake Board of Education’s monthly meetings. However, I was extremely disappointed when I noticed the meeting was barely mentioned in the October 28, 2021, publication.

The paper included an article about the annual School Board Meeting, but only included two bullet points about the monthly School Board Meeting — and those points were at the end of the article, in smaller font.

Reporting public comments from meetings is important — so community members, unable to attend the meetings, have accurate information. However, your articles about the monthly School Board meetings never include the public comments. Therefore, after the October meeting, in an effort to help make reporting easier, those people who gave public comments promptly emailed them to the reporter and the reporter still failed to include them in the article.

I hope future articles reflect better reporting and include the public comments, similar to the articles in the Green Lake Reporter, that included information about both meetings and the public comments.
