To the Editor:
(Re.“Gallup shows fast trot out church doors,” April 8, 2021) Tim, 50 years ago when we were in middle School, the city streets of Ripon went quiet every Good Friday from noon to 3 p.m., as people sat in their various church services. Yet, unbeknownst to us, our country was being torn even then by the same two problems that confronts us today — a disowning of a Holy, Creator God and a hatred for fellow men created in his image.
Let me suggest that the rejection of God/no fear of a Holy Creator God, of which the lack of church attendance is merely a symptom, is the real crux of today’s world issues. If we would return to the simple truth of what the Easter season celebrated the death-burial-and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead so that sinful man could be rescued from an eternal damnation in a literal Hell. Then we would again see church attendance pick up and men genuinely have a love and concern for their neighbors who are all created in the imagine of a Holy Creator God.
1 Corinthians 15:3 — For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received — according to the scriptures, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.
