To the editor:

(Re.“Ripon School Board Talks COVID mitigation,” Sept. 23, 2021) At our September 20 school board meeting, I made a motion to require masks of all staff and students. While the motion failed, I strongly support our administrative team’s efforts to keep our staff and students safe.

The plan drawn up by the administrative team is comprehensive, innovative and has strong metrics to help guide decision making as to when to require masks.

I hope as a community we do all we can to help protect our schools, whether it be wearing masks when appropriate, getting vaccinated, or even just following the guidance as laid out by school and health officials.

I know we all want to be safe and have life get back to normal, and together we can make it happen.

Why are schools all around us making masks mandates but not Ripon. Maybe because Ripon is what it claims, historical.
