To the Editor:

(Re: “Walker’s plans return power to communities,” April 7, 2011) John Adams provided inaccurate figures that doubled the school district’s debt situation.

The Ripon Area School District’s total debt is now at $6.2 million. Annual interest on that debt is currently running at a little over $200,000.

Most of the debt is for the final payments of Barlow Park Elementary School construction and the middle and high school additions.

Anyone with a mortgage or home equity loan for a remodeling project can relate to these building loans. ...

Due to sound fiscal management most of the district’s debt will be paid off in five years. Please plan on joining me for burning the mortgage at that time.
