TO THE EDITOR:
I would like to thank President Obama for his many accomplishments during the last eight years.
He took office at a time when our financial system was a mess, millions had lost their homes and their life savings, unemployment was at record highs, and the auto industry was nearly bankrupt. We were deep in two wars in the Middle East.
America is a far different place, thanks to his efforts.
According to Forbes magazine, the economy improved for 82-straight months; unemployment dropped from 10.1 percent in 2009 to 4.7 percent today; the stock market reached record highs.
He strengthened financial regulations to an extent not seen since the Great Depression. Additionally, the federal budget deficit is shrinking — reduced by two thirds since 2009. ...
There have been no attacks by El Qaida on US soil and Osama bin Laden is no longer a threat.
Department of Veterans Affairs funding was increased; the homeless veteran rate was halved according to the Department of Defense; and a $78 billion GI Bill tuition assistance was passed.
Thanks to the Iran Nuclear Deal, one of our most hostile enemies does not have nuclear weapons.
He exhibited leadership and courage under fire and he knew how to “speak to our better angels when it was hard to locate any angels.” His words. ...
