To the editor:

If you’re having a stroke, we pride ourselves on getting you to the CT scanner in less than 25 minutes. Lifesaving meds can be administered if the timing is just right. If not, and there are delays you could be crippled in a nursing home bed for many years. Awful.

If you’re having a heart attack, we can get you to the cath lab for a PTCA in record time, preventing loss of heart muscle and keeping you not just alive but a non-cardiac cripple.

Not so if the hospital staff is entirely dealing with COVID patients.

If we’re out of supplies and staff and beds, you won’t be saved. So you see, even people that don’t have COVID or think that they’ll never get it may be affected.

I was in a local business last week and I myself and maybe one other person was wearing a mask, and the store was crowded. Why is this so hard? Hope your loved one doesn’t have to be transferred out of state or out of town for a medical emergency. They may not make it.

I too was in a local store last week looking for Christmas items but found some employees not wearing a mask. It will be the last time I shop in that store. I appreciate all that Webster's is doing to help keep not only their workers safe, but also their visitors!

This is one big reason so many people are shopping out of town, local merchants just do not seem to get it. All I have to say is, do not cry on anyone's shoulder but your own when your forced to close because of lack of business.
