To the Editor:

(Re.“On a mission: Helping others one tooth at a time,” Jan. 7, 2021), Congratulations to Dr. Richard Voss on being chosen as RCP’s Person of the Year. I cannot think of a more deserving recipient.

Another example of Dr. Voss’s community service, Dr. Voss was a longtime member of the Ripon Rotary Club. He served as club president in 1985-86; and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in 1998. In the 2004-05 Rotary year Ripon Rotary received a $4,000 District Grant (the club had to match the amount; making the total $8,000) to start a school library in Thailand. Dr. Voss went on a dental mission to Thailand during that time, and, in addition to pulling teeth, served as Ripon Rotary’s “boots on the ground” to help get the library built and operating. He has truly lived the Rotary motto of “Service above Self.”
