Throughout my summer here in Green Lake, I’ve heard a lot of people talk about the local disc golfing courses.

I’ve been an avid lover of disc golfing since I started playing it in high school, but haven’t played it for a while. So I thought it would be a great opportunity to try my hand at it again while I’m working here.

I asked around to find out what the best disc golf courses around are and multiple sources pointed me towards Zobel Memorial County Park.

I haven’t gone disc golfing since I was in community college, but it always has been a sport I really enjoyed and I’ve wanted to get back out there ever since.

My old campus had a small disc golf course that a bunch of other students and myself would go play on after our classes.

All the good reviews I got of the park absolutely held up because Zobel did not disappoint. It’s a really beautiful park with some super creative design to some of the shots.

Given that I hadn’t been disc golfing in a number of years, I didn’t play an official game or follow a specific course.

Instead, I spent my time at the park taking practice shots and trying out some of the more creative difficult holes while enjoying my hike around the park.

For an amateur like myself, the course was pretty difficult. The first half of the course is fairly easy with most open-field shots, but the second half winds through a rather densely wooded area with shots going through tunnels of trees.

The park has a lot of hills, making for some difficult upward and downward shots throughout the course.

There were lots of mosquitoes, so I would recommend a lot of bug spray for anyone thinking of visiting the park.

But the bugs were only a small price to pay for the beauty of the park. Zobel disc golf course takes you through a bunch of beautiful nature trails around the park.

The length of the park runs along some farmland, so there are some gorgeous prairie views along the edge of the park.

The course also takes you across a cute little bridge over a creek and through some densely wooded forests.

I also got the chance to see quite a few deer on my hike through Zobel park.

It is definitely one of the most beautiful disc golf courses that I have ever been to, making it a great way to return to the sport.
