To the editor:

Good news! You can finally take down your “Stop the Steal” signs. The election theft was thwarted! Former President Trump’s efforts to overturn the results from the November presidential election have been unsuccessful.

The “steal” was slowed when judges (more than 35 appointed by the former president) threw out legal challenges filed by Trump and his associates. Recounts in key states affirmed by both Republican and Democrat election officials confirmed the results. The personal telephone call from Trump asking the Georgia Republican Secretary of State to “find” 11,780 votes for him failed. Finally, the violent mob inside and outside the U.S. Capitol didn’t stop the certification of the election of the President (Biden) and Vice President (Harris).

So no more need for those signs. The steal has been stopped and democracy won!

April 6th isn't the election for president, its been 3 months time for donnie the former president signs to come down. There is no great uprising as the straight jacket needing Q-anon fools think will magically happen. And sallie you are an outright hypocrite. I've seen all of YOUR likes on people ATTACKING anyone who is sane and refutes the conspiracy theories they and you post on ripon uncensored. But on here you play the holier than though persona like you haven't done that 1000 times over. You repost conspiracy theorists articles that conform to your views, never fact checking any of that obvious blatant rubbish. For being a religious person its a sin that you treat trump as a god. Don't worship false idols sallie. Trump has committed some of the most heinous atrocities our country has ever seen yet you act like he has not done a single thing wrong. He's going to waste away at maralago continuing to collect money from fools dumb enough to send it to him and die from ingesting McDonalds daily along with constantly drinking diet cokes long before the next election

Are you my Pastor? Yikes!

Is a trump flag considered a political sign or is it in a different category?

Dale Failor

Not for Biden or Trump Sallie.

Sallie Helmer

Donald J. Trump didn't try to steal the election, he is exposing the election fraud that we all know took place.

You may think the case is “moot” since the election is already over but it is not. “Irrefutable Proof Is Coming Soon – We Are NOT Done” Sidney Powell. It is true rogue justices refused to hear the cases, of which there were several dozen related to the presidential election fraud.

"There is no constitutional justification for this latest SCOTUS refusal. The only possible reasons for refusal are that Supreme Court justices–including two appointed by Trump, are complicit in the insurrection against President Trump and America, or they are too lazy or incompetent to want to take on such a contentious case whose rulings will resonate around the globe and completely alter the trajectory of America." DINO PORRAZZO

Michael Shohoney

Oh, Sallie....sad, sad Sallie. You are quoting Sidney Powell and Dino Porrazzo!? Seriously!? Two of most provably crazy people in this world. And, you claim that SCOTUS is "in on it" against, Cheetohead?! You're being delusional. So, riddle me this, had Cheetohead won, would there have been fraud? So, there's only fraud when your preferred candidate loses? That's what you want us all to believe and that's what you believe!? That's called losing touch with reality. It's also being a sore loser. Stop. Seek professional help so that you get back in touch with reality. You remind me of something a judge once said about a plaintiff whose case was a farce, "Apparently, you believe that the rest of the world is out of step with you."

Sallie Helmer

Michael Shohoney,

Michael-- do you seriously think your constant vicious personal attack on me makes readers think better of you? It reflects badly you. If you are trying to destroy my confidence---you are just encouraging me.

Adam Umbreit

Sallie, I know that most Republicans here are used to a bought and paid-for Wisconsin Supreme court and how they operate, and we all know that you think the courts are here to follow personal political wants and needs and work for outside interests, but what people like you don't seem to understand is that courts are here to interpret the laws not make them. There was absolutely no evidence Sallie! You can't have a case without any evidence! I think you are confused between how democracy actually works and how the checks and balances put in place work to keep people like the Republican Party from becoming the world's next dictatorship.

Sallie Helmer

Adam Umbreit,

You're always advocating for Democracy. I am sure you are referring to this definition of Democracy---"the practice or principles of social equality." The U.S. is a Representative Democracy--- "In a democracy, the rule of majority people Who is it that wants to enslave citizens, allow anarchy, murders, riots, cop hatred, censorship, removal of our history, purposely dividing us by gender, race, class, religion, and age; anything to further separate Americans into warring factions? Socialists want higher taxes, massive spending and more government power. “Medicare for All”, free welfare and healthcare benefits for illegal aliens, and paying off all student loans---the power to confiscate trillions of your money and give it to someone else.

Socialism was never intended to free man, but to enslave him. Capitalism lifts people out of poverty and into prosperity.

Sallie Helmer

I must clarify the sentence that was not finish.

"In a pure democracy, laws are made directly by the voting majority leaving the rights of the minority largely unprotected.

In a republic, laws are made by representatives chosen by the people and must comply with a constitution that specifically protects the rights of the minority from the will of the majority.

The United States, while basically a republic, is best described as a “representative democracy.”

The key difference between a democracy and a republic lies in the limits placed on government by the law, which has implications for minority rights. The reason Democrats want to get rid of the Constitution. The Constitution limits government.

Michael Shohoney

Once again, Sallie, you are cutting and pasting without proper attribution. Plagiarism. Cheating. Lying. Call it what you want but at the end of the day you're dishonest and you don't have a thought of your own.

Adam Umbreit

A democracy also allows for lawful and truthful district voting lines to be drawn. I guess that does not relate to any lawful moral standards when Republicans have the majority does it Sallie? You sure like to cherry pick on what is democracy and what isn't when it only benefits your personal political party. If you hate socialism so much than why do you continue to cash your social security checks and depend on government medical coverage Sallie? What about you driving on those socialistic snow-plowed streets? What about those pesky socialistic gas & electric company co-ops that power your home? We all know that your paycheck contributions over the years comes nowhere near adding up to what the actual cost of these benefits. So, you can fully say that you are not using ANY of these socialistic benefits Sallie?

Michael Shohoney

The Kracken remains caged.

Dale Failor

No more need for any campaign signs to be up. City code enforcement should do their job and get the signs down that are still up.

Sallie Helmer

Really, Wisconsin has an election on April 6, 2021.
