Input sought for lake management plan

Green Lake

The public is invited to attend the first in a series of public participation workshops regarding the development of a lake management plan for Big Green Lake.

It’s planned for Thursday, July 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Green Lake County courthouse’s training room, 571 County Road A (new site).

At this initial kick-off workshop, participants will learn more about the project, its objectives, the basic components of a lake management plan, and its importance to Green Lake.

Participants also will meet the individuals and organizations sponsoring the project, including the Green Lake Sanitary District, the Green Lake Association, the Green Lake County Land Conservation Department, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and other community members.

Attendance at this initial workshop will serve as a foundation for additional public participation workshops throughout the summer.

This project and the final plan, once adopted, will help guide future management efforts on the lake and in the watershed.

Therefore, public input is an essential component to the project’s success.
