Column: Ripon ushers in summer with 20 years of community theater

The Ripon Area Community Theater will hold auditions for its summer musical production of “Stepsisters” Friday, May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Ripon.

Call backs will take place Tuesday, May 24 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The show is open to any actor/actress ages 12 and up.

Rehearsals will run from June 13 to Aug. 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Show dates are Aug. 12,13 and 14.

Auditions will consist of singing and reading. Those auditioning will need to prepare a 2-minute song to perform. It can be performed with/without accompaniment. Readings will be provided at the auditions.

An open call for musicians and crew will be held, with sign-up sheets available on both days of tryouts for those interested in volunteering in any of these areas.

Walk-ins are welcome. Auditioners also may sign-up in advance for a specific audition slot at:

“Stepsisters” is a musical comedy that tells the story of Cinderella from the point of view of Cinderella’s stepsisters; who insist they’re innocent and the Grimm Brothers have it all wrong.
