The former Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce building came down Monday, making way for new development.
With a few swings of an excavator and its big bucket, the building crumpled.
Above right, the building remains half-standing as Egbert Excavating pulls its walls apart.
Below right, nothing is left but rubble later in the afternoon as the bucket picks up load after load of debris.
The mess was made so that the Jefferson Street Apartments may be built on that site.
The development is expected to include nine townhouses and 15 apartments along that one-block stretch of Jefferson Street.
Construction is to begin this fall, which is why the city — which owned the former chamber building and a water department building also torn down — did the demolition this week.
