Citizens envision how to make downtown shine

From left, Errin Welty and Jon Bartz of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. listen as Riponite Peter Sensenbrenner points out a suggestion he has for downtown.

What’s great about Ripon today?

What could make Ripon even better tomorrow?

For the second-straight fall, a group of well-meaning Riponites gathered downtown to consider those ideas.

Gathering over pizza at Roadhouse last week Thursday night, about a dozen residents considered ways to drive growth in the community.

No answers were reached in the open-ended exercise, but plenty of ideas were generated.

Purpose of the program was “to follow up on concerns on suggestions ... and concerns that came up last year. We’ve made some progress and gotten past one of our major challenges,” said Craig Tebon, Ripon Main Street manager who helped organize the event. “It was a good way to touch base with people.”

The program was led by Errin Welty, downtown development account manager for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.
