City leaders will consider early retirement deal
Steve Huber

Green Lake city officials intend to consider a possible early retirement agreement for the city’s longtime police chief, Steve Huber.

The city’s Human Resources Committee will meet tonight (Wednesday) in closed session after which the council will meet in public during a special meeting.

The council scheduled these meetings after a closed-session discussion this week.

Details of the possible agreement were not made public, and Huber offered no comment.

Mayor Chuck Mirr, however, emphasized that any possible agreement would be crafted due to Huber’s tenure and cost savings to the city, not his performance.

He emphasized that Huber has been a dedicated public servant. “This guy’s been doing a great job and we’ve been lucky to have him as a great asset for the city for 31 years,” Mirr said.
